I just had a thermostat that was installed 5 months ago stick closed and send my temp. gauge deep in the red (and my blood pressure through the roof). While looking on the net for options I saw one that looked like it would be adaptable to our cars. I went to a local salvage yard and found this, to me there seems to be potential here.

Re: Inline thermostat housing with replaceable thermostat
I just went to the salvage yard and grabbed a housing off of a 1998 ford Contour... replaced the t-stat with a new one rated for 180 degrees. I did have to replace the upper radiator hose to make it work but was easy to find at the parts store. Seems to be working just fine. The whole set up only cost $15.00 and i now have an accessible system. And an extra bonus, the new t-stat already has a small bleeder valve in it. No need to drill a small hole .
