Heat Heat Heat

Ok,just drove 80-90 miles. Great day. But my leg is on fire. Holy crap where does all that transmission heat come from? I know I gotta seal up and insulate a bit. But crap, that seems super hot.

Any options for extra cooling? Finned pans, tap and run a pump and radiator for the fluid? Run a cooling duct from front end to the trans tunnel?

Heat may be stuck on, blowing hot air out the vent at the front of the console lower section. It flows really well even without the help of the fan! The trans tunnel itself doesn't usually get too bad, even if you have the original jute and carpet installed. Radiated heat is nothing like on the MGs, Triumphs, etc.

I typically leave both floor vents open..cause a v6 with headers doesn't help like at all! My fiancé loves it though cause she's always cold.

Definitely not just heater. its radiating from the transmission. I think I left out the heavy jute padding and need to double check on the rubber gasket. May double check the fluid level in it too... Previously I had the heater completely bypassed. Wish my 81 had the old manual controlled options in the foot wells.

I have the heater bypass and no heater core, but I get ZERO heat in the cabin from driving. I was looking forward to what I heard 'bout them heating up on their own to drive into the fall winter months, but no way...

I get tons of heat off the transmission tunnel when I drive, right now it's completely exposed with the interior out. Already replaced the shifter foam and rubber seal. Getting ready to put 3/4" closed cell foam around the whole thing. I hope it helps.

A radiant barrier type insulation should work pretty well. Something like reflectix, available at most hardware stores. It's basically bubble wrap with aluminum foil on both sides.

+1. We only got unwanted heat before I bypassed the core. No matter how the levers were positioned.
