Birds Eye Maple Wood Kits

Post by So Cal Mark »

We had our wood mfg make up sets of birds' eye maple. The kits contain the cluster, glove box, shifter plate and 2 small center strips. We have them for 78 and earlier with 6 gauge holes, 79 and later with 5 holes and custom cluster for 79 and later with 6 holes so you can add an oil pressure gauge without eliminating the clock. These are all in stock now at $350 per set plus shipping. Matching shift knobs coming soon!

Hi Mark,

They look very nice. On the glove box door, are there inset nuts on the back for the two hinges?

Thanks.

the problem with 83-85 is the center stack is not wood, it's a plastic applied to a metal backing. We've done several 83-85 restorations and we use vinyl wood to redo them.
The glove box door does have threaded inserts for the hinges

Mark thanks for all the custom work. I know it would be time consuming to do but would really help to sell if we could see specialty stuff actually on a car to gauge final appearance. Again i know its quite a bit of work but i think help to see in 'action'

the videos of our restorations are all posted and all of the 84 dashes we've done have been in vinyl.
Here's one example; all of the videos are on my youtube channel.

I hear you. I veneered the center stack and am not really happy with the results. The metal is thin and it bends very easily, which cracks the veneer. I'm thinking of making new metal prices for the center console out of heavier gauge metal and veneering again. But then I'm going to have to worry about the vents and switch bezel attaching correctly to the upper center section.
