I think the luggage rack is like those things like the bumper /no bumper /old style discussion

some like it some hate it

I'm more a luggage rack man , but it all depends (on my opinion) how the overall of your car is going to be
I like the chrome on the cars , but i can imagine if you make it more into a race look that it would't fit

here's a look @ mine with the rack on ....

Just be sure that you will like the luggage rack forever. Because once you drill those holes, there's no turning back.

If you are going to use it, by all means do it. If it is just for looks, not so much!

You shouldn't unless you really are going to use it. I personally think it distracks from the beatiful lines of the car. Of course that's just this jackass's opinion. As they say opinions are just like ummm, elbows, everybody has one.

I'm in total agreement with Gunsmith on this one Papa. Easy for me to say though, I am set up to tow a little trailer if I need more room.
On the practical side, I'm a little leary of putting weight on the trunk lid, I feel I have to be careful not to lean on it while waxing it so it doesn't cave in.

I just knew there would be some who would say that once you drill it's a done deal and I knew that some would say just Like my Son told me " that it takes away the great look the car has with it's syling " so as for putting on a Luggage Rack or not Putting on a Luggage Rack is up to me ..thats fine ,,and thx ..Now with your thoughts on the trunk lid being a little to flexable ,,thats another thing to think about as the Mrs does pack a suit case to it's fullest.. You know ,,a bit over 50 lbs for the airlines and we seem to always pay the $25 extra. LOL

One other thing that you might not of noticed is that the Rack in my photo is NOT a Fiat Rack. It's a Corvette Rack that I already have and I am throwing it up to all who like racks if it looks good or better or worse than the Fiat original Rack would look.. papa ,,,I should of mentioned that in the top post.. sorry

I had that same rack on my 68' Vette because it came with it but I don't think I ever used it.

If I had a 68 rather than the 76 that I sold I still would have a Vette.. them bumper years were the best.. any way I just got an email on a Luggage Rack for $20 and he says it is in good shape .. so i need to make up my mind,, thx for you opinion . papa

that style rack is one not seen often. the one tappy posted is seen more often. not that i have seen them all, but i do not recall seeing yours before.

we have one on each of our Spiders, same design as tappy's. my wife is not a light packer, so if we do overnight or weekend excursions, our luggage racks get heavy use. i constantly carry bungee cords in the trunk.

however, if i eventually drop the big bumpers off my '80... i am worried that the rack will really look out of place.. as gunsmith suggests. Once the bumpers are gone, the true lines of the car will be accented..i fear that the rack will then stick out like a sore thumb.

can you/will you get lots of use out of it? Then by all means, install it.

Well, let me suggest - get another trunk lid and spray it to match you car and mount the luggage rack to this one. Changing them is rather easy. Then you can swap with an effort of ~2 hours work whenever you like.

Nice Rack!!!

Always wanted to say that and not get slugged. ANyway, I am no fans of racks on cars, especially sports cars (where they usually are) but I like the Vette rack better than most. It may look a little big on the Fiat trunk though. I agree with others, get another trunk lid. It should be easy with red being so common. Is there not enough room for luggage in the glorifed back seat?
