I really like the new garage, Mike. Wish I had the space in the "new" yard, but, covenants and all that......

Can't wait for pix of the interior once done!

Thanks Neil, it looks bigger than it is. Actual garage without the shed part is 20 x 22 with 20 being the door side. Consequently garage door openings are only 8 foot wide. Interior won't change much other than a higher ceiling height to accomodate electric door openers, and maybe shift the sand blast cabinet from one side to the other so I can increase workbench space a bit. I am adding LED ceiling lights and more of them than I had before to have a little better visibility. ( Home Depot special $20/each)

Roof might actually be done by the end of August. If I get everything buttoned up by mid November, I will be a happy man

In re: garage doors and openers......

One of the "sorta expected" surprises of the "new" house was garage door replacement (the original ones were rust stained, and the lift cables snapped sans warning). I was really wanting more ceiling area (18 ft Jensen canoe, 14 ft Native kayak, buncha Treks), and like you, a number of LED shop lights (you DO use yer ID at Home Depot, right??). Anyway, decided to splurge a bit. Patty ordered Clopay doors with R-18 solid insulation (felt sorry for three winters of cold hubby wrenching on Fiats and other items), and I ordered two of these (one for each door):

These are jack shaft door operators: they install between the doors, on the sides, freeing up all of the ceiling area over the raised door. They connect to the jackshaft running through thew main spring: no chains, belts, etc. Really quiet, smooth, and with automatic slowing as they reach either end of their travel. They came with remote triggered overhead lights (2 ea 100 w LED bulbs), and have motion detectors for the lights on the operator wall switches. A little more expensive, but worth every cent, IMO. Take a long look at them if you haven't purchased the openers, Mike. Good stuff.

Still working towards a functional shop in the new place. This fall, late, maybe.
