I thought the 2L head flowed better and therefore offered better volumetric efficiency. The bump in HP is good now, but what happens down the road when you've got additional mods on the car? I'm just spit-balling here, I have no way of saying which setup is best but when I built mine I thought it made sense to have better VE in preparation for future mods.
I've never read any threads where someone is upset with how the 1800 head made their car perform... that might say it all.

Re: FI vs 1800 head
AFAIK the ports are the same size between 1800 and 2000, but the 2000 has less shrouded valves.
The only reason to use the 1800 head is to slightly increase compression.
