So after i got the car back from getting the carbs "adjusted" it ran poorly and the distributor makes an odd noise. I had to leave town so I didn't have time to look at it.
Seems like its coming from the distributor its constant but close, also the tach seems to jump intermittently when this happens.
heres video if anyone has pointers for when i get to it that would be great!
thanks guys.

Re: distributor noise?
You might want to take the distributor cap off and look inside. check the rotor screws and make sure the rotor is properly seated and the screws are in place and tight.

Re: distributor noise?
age, vibration and heat from the exhaust, they need to be checked periodically. Usually it's the last place people look when it should be the first.

Re: distributor noise?
The grey circles at the end of the counterweights are bushes to hold up the counterweight so it doesn't rub on the backing plate. Lift the end of the counter weight up a bit and push the bush down, it only needs a slight clearance.

Re: distributor noise?
So will the scratches/slight gouge in the backing plate affect it? Also have to replace that wire so it doesn't short out anymore.
