1972/1979 Seats

I'm looking for some stock seats for my '72. I've found some 1979 seats on CL. Two questions:

1. Will the 79 seats fit in my 72?
2. What year did the seat structure change to the 'weakened' design? I don't want to purchase seats that are prone to develop the 'lean'.

1- Probably
2- 79
1979 Fiat Spider (since new)
2005 Lincoln LS (the wife's car)
2003 Chevrolet Cavalier (daily driver)
1999 Honda Shadow VLX 600
1972 Grumman Traveller 5895L (long gone).
