Choke plate linkage nut, cotter pin, or something missing?

This is probably related to an earlier post (http://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33624) about my idle speed suddenly ramping, but I have a much more specific mechanical question.

As you can see from the pictures, the linkage between the choke plate and its linkage (I may have some terms wrong here) comes off. It appears there must be come kind of locking ring, cotter pin, or something there to hold it in place. What goes here?

Is this something I can find in a hardware or car parts store?

Probably what is called a "Cir-Clip" or a "C" spring clip. But I am not a carb guy so this could be inaccurate.

Looks like an "e-ring" or clip would work there. Any hardware store should have various sizes. Maybe another Chinese carb owner could confirm.
That could most definitely be related to your idle issue. Without that connection actuating the butterfly, it's "flapping in the breeze" instead of opening gradually as the car warms and thereby lowering your idle.

My bone stock '79 has the same linkage looking like yours, no circlip. The linkage has never nor cannot dislodge itself as it bottoms out onto the body of the carb. I would need to bend the linkage in order to get it disconected. Hope this helps.

i have an empi 32/36. i lost mine. used 1/8" e clip to replace it. may have had to squeeze it to make it tight enough to hold.

The 1/8" e-clip from Advanced Auto worked great! It's probably not a perfect, but it's definitely a "good enough" fit. For future readers, here's the exact part I used:

Dorman - Pik-a-Nut E-Clip - Standard - 1/8 (3.2mm) In. x .094 In., Thickness .015 In.

I ran around the neighborhood a little and did not get the sudden idle increase, so I'm saying this case is solved!
