2 liter FI engine build

Post by BammBamm »

I have seen many threads about building the best 2 liter engine. I have noticed they all suggest carbs instead of FI. Does FI not give enough gas? Can I use bigger injectors? I plan on building a 10to1 compression engine with domes Pistons and upgraded valves. Suggestions??

"The best" doesn't mean anything really.

If you avoid camshaft changes the L-Jet FI system is fine; however, it has zero adjustments for fuel delivery. You can search here techniques to deliver more fuel (typically using injectors with a higher volume discharge). L-Jet is very reliable, easy starts, smooth operation, and if you like to tinker with engines it's just plan boring. Carburetors have all manner of adjustments - more exciting stuff for the engine nerd.

One the most pleasant engines I ever built was very simple - a stock FI block with 9.8:1 CR pistons. Stock everything else. Ran strong all day long, started and stopped without issues, and had quite a bit more power than the lowly CR of the stock engine.
