Rear speakers

Post by rjkoop »

I'm thinking about installing rear speakers in my car. I'd probably remove the back seat (never use it) and do this.

Looks really nice and should be quite doable. Anyone have any other options (with pics) that work well?

i did it. added a jensen 4x400 amp, jvc KD330 BTS receiver (no CD), 5.25" speakers (WITH foam Baffles) in front kick panels, and infininity components in rear speaker box. Topped it off with a wind screen from AR.

Couldn't be happier! :D

I did a variant of the one you referenced. I liked what he did, but changed the speaker box a little.

That is really nice! I hope you are going to be at Tutto this year? Or maybe one of the Larz or Herb Chambers C&C events?

Excellent! I was out in North Truro last Summer, but plan to be there this year, and have been to about 3 events a week so far this season. Plymouth is a bit of a hike from most events, but I can get pretty far on a Sat or Sun morning with little trouble.

I used foster48x 's drawing to make a parcel shelf too. Not yet sure how to handle the speaker box but will be watching closely for options.

I thought about putting a bose sound system between the seats and recessed into the vertical part of my parcel shelf. In the same place aj81spider's lock is located. I thought the bose system was a good choice because one little self contained sound system kicks out a tremendous amount of sound.

My reservations with aj81spider's speaker box are that "evil doers" would be able to see that I've got a sound system in the car and it might be too tempting for them to walk away from. Plus I've grown to love the additional storage my rear seat used to occupy.

Very slick. This is going to be a summer project for me. Nice because I can still drive the car even when I have the back seats out! :D

Putting that cigarette lighter outlet back there is an excellent idea! Keeps the wires, etc; from getting all tangled up and in the way up in front.

I forgot to post the picture of the rear deck with speakers in this thread. Here's how it turned out...

I actually have it in this thread (not sure why I started two threads! :? )
