Citroen SM at Foxboro Cruise 6-09-16

Post by RRoller123 »

Here are some pics of my friend's 1972 Citroen SM that he regularly drives and brings to most of the cruise nights. Really net, unique car, Maserati V6, in the front, mounted "backwards", driving the front wheels. Total of ~2000 were imported to the US, and very, very few remain. (Maybe 100 or so?) A bear to maintain, but he keeps up with it quite well!

The weather was cool and looked like it would rain (it didn't) so there were less than the usual 2000 +/- cars in attendance. Quick video at the beginning here too.

That's great! Really odd. I happened to see a Citroen on the TV show "Chips" (!) the other night where one was driving down the highway with the left rear wheel missing and Chips pulled it over. I guess that's possible because of the narrower rear axle. Nice "feature" in an emergency, I suppose!

I had the pleasure of driving a SM some years ago. I've never forgot what an amazing ride it had.
