1981 FI 2000. Original Crank Shaft Pulley. Exactly where is the timing mark located? On the face of the pulley? What is the notch on the back/rear "face" (for lack of a better term) on the pulley used for?

The notch can be hard to see. Run your finger around the furthest out pulley edge. Once you find it, mark with a dab of white paint. Makes timing so much easier.

2L timing pointers are on the passenger side of the engine, not on the timing belt cover

I've found timing the 2L to be a pain, it hard to see the pulley line up the marks due to the fan motor and the plumbing of the hoses, is there a trick to it?

I have 2 marks, one for the 2L and an other on the other side for the timing cover mark
Cheers David

Hi Mark, thanks for clarifying as I was referring to the pictures at the very top of that thread, not sure why the link I copied starts halfway down where the timing cover was mentioned vs at the top of the page?

Many thanks, funny thing is that I had to make a new notch bracket as I used a 36-1 timing wheel but didn't drill the hole....I may have to drill the hole now (I have already had that zinc plated..)
