A/R Progressive Springs and Koni Yellow Installation

Post by jaymanire »

I am in the process of installing my A/R progressive springs and Koni yellows. I just have two simple questions:

1) On the springs, are the tighter coils installed on top or at bottom? I've read various threads arguing both ways. I only want to do this once, so I am looking for a definitive answer.

2) How in the hell do you adjust these Konis? The instructions included in the box are not helpful. It's like looking at Egyptian hieroglyphics. Perhaps there is a video somewhere online?

The springs should compress the same whether they're installed tight ends up or tight ends down; however, I think some people have experienced some noise issues if the tighter coils are on top. Therefore Autoricambi has been advising customers to put the tighter end at the bottom. So that's how I installed mine.

I installed the rear coils tight side up. The larger coil spacing on the bottom makes it easy to get a socket on an extension of to the lower shock mount bolt. I've noticed no sound from the springs (just all sorts of other rattles and creaks.

I did the same thing on mine and it lowered the stance nicely.
You should like the set up. And for no apparent reason on my part, I put the tight coils on the bottom.

The rattles that you're hearing may be the result of having the tight spring coils mounted upwards.

Nope. All of my rattles were there before the spring swap. :)
