the nerve of some people!

Post by mdrburchette »

When I got back from the FFO, my 72 had a flat tire in the trailer, so I pumped it up to put it in it's room. Since I have a car club meeting tonight, I decided to pump the tire up and take it to the tire store to have the tire patched. I drove it down to the local tire store and told the guy to patch the left rear tire from the inside. He looked at the car and said "that must be your baby. It's a beauty." I felt sure it would be in good hands so I sat in the waiting room and proceeded to chat with a little old lady. I heard one of the employees calling to the service writer and when I looked in the shop, I saw a fellow wiping the dust off the front of my car and peering down at it so I immediately thought they had dented my car! I realized that wasn't the case, but it irks me to see anyone wiping dust off a car, especially mine, since it scratches the paint, so I walked out into the shop to watch them with my car. As I opened the door, the employee that wiped the dust off, proceeded to back his rear end toward the hood of my car to SIT ON IT!!! The only saving grace was he left it in neutral and didn't set the parking brake so the car moved backward as if to say "You ain't plopping your scrawny ass on me!" I of course, came charging out to him, telling him the car was not a seat and don't you ever let me catch you doing that again. I stayed right beside the dude the whole time he worked on the tire after that. Good grief, I'm still upset over this!

you're lucky it was a scrawny ass, anything of substance would dent that lovely little hood. With policy like that, I can only imagine what happens on a test drive when the owner isn't waiting around

 for those of you that haven't met Denise, two pair of athletic socks worn simultaneously will get her to nearly five foot, if the socks are soaking wet.

i can just see her scrambling toward that "mechanic" with her finger wagging at him in desperate attempt to keep her paint job scratchless. NO! NO! NO! Git yoar lard a@@ off my car!

thanks, Denise. i needed that word picture today. it's been a rough one for me as well.

Don't get me started on the state of customer service these days!
I'm glad you were there to catch it.
On the other hand, when I had my new tires put on, at the busiest tire strore in town (you're in and out in 15 min.) The owner stands out in the work area all day. As his guy grabbed the air gun to take off the wheels, he yelled at him "Don't use the gun on those wheels, you know better than that."
I make it a habit of watching whenever my car is worked on, it's amazing how much unconcern or down right ignorance of good care is out there.
Hope your day is better.

My day went better. Nothing helps a bad day better than sitting by the pool with a beer in one hand and a slice of pizza in another.
