Good day all,
I've kicked-off my fabrication project to install 2 Sparco R100 seats and a CASC-compliant roll hoop for my spider time attack car.
We quickly learned that an adapter from the stock sheetmetal mounts to the seat-track put the seat too high in the car (even for my 5'8" frame). Plan B was to remove the sheetmetal mounts from the car and fabricate new mounts which go from seat-track to floor.
Clearance is pretty good to the top and overall I'm happy with the install. We may take another look at it down the road to angle the seat cushion for better thigh support. I can provide some more photos later and would even consider doing a kit/bracket for direct-to-floor attachment if there is any interest. Our shop is very capable and supplies directly to OE manufacturers in the Detroit area...
Next up is the ROLL HOOP!

I will post some this week. Getting the seat low enough in the car was a challenge. The sliders wound up flat on the floor with angled brackets to provide the correct thigh support for racing purposes...

How much of the rail did you remove? Any pics?
I found with a lot of aftermarket seats that they put your hear inline with the visor??
Here is a pic of my half cage, it was designed so it would pass our CAMS but also use the top

Re: Sparco R100 Seats in Spider
That hoop looks VERY similar to mine right now (though your car is MUCH nicer!) Mine accommodates the top, but does not accommodate opening the top without loosening fasteners. I intend to race top up.
The entire rail was removed. Project is moving pretty fast right now, but I'll snap some pics when we do the passenger side. This was what we needed to do to get the line of sight acceptable. I've had a few people sit in the car and nobody has complained yet. It's DEFINITELY a tight squeeze. If I was getting more extreme, I'd run fixed buckets to get lower. Folders save "points" in my class, so I'll have to accept the higher CG.
