Weber 34 DCHE

Post by Wanting »

I own a European spider from 72. Yesterday I was looking at my carburettor expecting to find it was dhsa but in fact it's a dche

A quick search reveals that this carb was fitted to a 125. However finding any info on the carb is proving hard to get.

Does anyone have any info about this carb?

I'm guessing that unless my car came with this carb from factory then a previous owner has changed it as a performance upgrade.

Is it a 1438cc or 1608cc engine? A Euro 1608 should have twin IDFs.
Maybe if you post some pics we can see if it is related to any of the US-bound Webers.

I've asked on facebook and the carb is off a fiat 125 special. Like you've said people seem to think I should have dual IDF's. I can't believe someone would remove a dual setup and fit a single carb.

Maybe the German built Spider was built using this carb or maybe it was an option. I probably won't know unless I go onto a German forum and start asking.

Just to add closure to this thread, the German built BS1 did have a 34 DCHE 20 carb and not dual idf's.

I also have a '72 bs1 spider with the same carb.
The car is a german 'deutsche fiat'.
Produced in September '72. The last of the 1608's .
I reckon that by this time they had run of the twin carbs , as soon after , the German arm changed.
I am happy with this carb and don't want the problem of balancing the twin weber.

Dche weber.
It occurred to me that 'DCHE' could be an abbreviated version of Deutsche.
Just a thought. as they seem to be fitted to the German fiats.
