When my head was reworked recently my machine shop did exactly that, ground the seats a little to give a slightly taller valve height. With the Bayless regrind cams I ended up in the 4.2 to 4.4 shim range on all cylinders. BTW, hotter cams normally call for smaller clearances as well.engineerted wrote:There is a third option: Do no use the std cam box gasket, make your own from thinner material.
