Are the suicide doors on the 500 custom, or is that how some of them came?

Here's my wife's 1962 500D, also with suicide doors. Italians call them 'controvento porte' which translates to 'against the wind doors'.

Thanks. And I look forward to seeing your 500 finished one of these days too, Joe.

The old 500s are so simple in construction that restoration is pretty easy. Our car looked very much like yours (same color too) not too many months before that picture was taken. The gentleman that we bought the car from restores 500s for a living and he says he can generally do one or two per month--if he can find the cars in the first place. Even in Italy, the 500Ds are becoming rare.
