Hey folks,
Well I got another Spider to replace my old one that was written off by the insurance company. I had to go to arbitration but got what I wanted and then bought the old car for salvage. The new one is a 1982. So far I have reused the old wheels/tires and may replace a few interior pieces and the older style bumpers. The old car will then be going to someone who is in the automotive business and he will rebuild the old one in his garage at home. He is going to pay me what I paid for salvage. He is also letting me pick off the parts I want, such as the tires/rims and the older style bumper. I just have to give him the parts from the newer car that I am taking off. He wrecked his last spider about 10 years ago and has been yearning for another ever since. It will be good to see it back on the road next year.
So far there are no issues. I drove the car 400 miles home with great fuel mileage and no odd noises or shudders. It has to now get inspected for insuring in a new province and then I should be able to put plates on it and enjoy. Here is a quick picture I took. More to follow after I come back from vacation. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k266/ ... 040150.jpg
PS Anyone in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba have a donor car with front structure/body panels. The guy taking my older car will be looking soon.
Back in the saddle again ;)

Re: Back in the saddle again ;)
the new car looks much longer than your old car, haha
Re: Back in the saddle again ;)
What color was the old one? I think that's my favorite color ever on a Spider.

I will keep my eyes open for some more 82's down here so everyone on the site can switch over.
Re: Back in the saddle again ;)

Carburetors? How old school. We don't need no stinkin' carbs. Not now that we've found out how easy it is to troubleshoot the FI system!

Good point Denise. However, I'm glad I got the education. And so is Motel 8 in Grant's Pass. And the mechanic. And Autozone. And Wine Country Motors. Well, just about everyone but my wife, who has to pay the bills.

I was always planning on my next Fiat to have dual carbs and then I picked up this 82' and discovered the joys of one less item to maintain. I would consider replacing my FI system with dual carbs still if I thought I would get that much more horsepower out of it. Does anyone know what the differece in horsepower is?
