Hello again all,
I am (slowly) currently working on the interior of my 1981 Spider. I am wondering what others have done on this endeavor with the brake lines, wires and so forth after gutting the interior. I want to have a nice smooth surface for when I put down the carpet and not feel the lines under it. Any suggestions are welcome.
Dealing with brake lines, wires, etc., drivers door.

unless someone has changed things on your specific car... those lines thru the cabin floor are fuel lines, and not brake lines.
the brake lines should run under the center of the car.
and, what i did, specifically to answer your question, is to replace the fuel lines with brand new fuel lines that were not nearly corroded to pieces... back to their factory locations. I also left the factory location for all of the electrical wires.
by the time you install two pieces of carpet over that area, one horizontal on the floor and the other vertical on the rocker panel.... you will never see, and can barely touch the crevice in the "corner". those lines are just fine there.

a little extra insulation was applied on either side of the lines in my car, that helped smooth it out.
