Follow up DFEV question

Post by Amendonsa »

First, thank you to all who replied to my previous post. While getting it to cap the vacuum line as suggested, I found the following. Can anyone tell me if I am correct that these are the carb jets. Shouldn't they both be flush? The one on the drivers side of the carb was loose, and even when fully hand tight, still sticks out and does not seem secure. Is this normal? Thanks all.

Yes, those should be Primary and Secondary Idling Jets. The "60" should be referring to 0.60mm jet.

Mine were not screwed in flush, but they were tight when I got them from Redline. Reading through some carb rebuild guides it just says to tighten them, so I'd hit them with your screwdriver.

You can get the explosion view of the carb here: http://www.racetep.com/webdiag.html

That has all the parts labeled, so you can see those screws should be part number "15" and the jets under them are "14" and "14a".

I am running a 1438 with a 1800 intake and the 60 primary idle jet is to rich so I switched to a 47.5 and left the secondary at 50. I did this on the advice of Brad Artigue and it worked pretty well, however I was still running rich so I changed up the main and air jets. This is my set up: Idle: P=47.5 S=50, Mains: P=130 S=150, AC P=160 S=180. It runs real smooth and has no hesitation through all rpms and my exhaust doesn't smell like fuel  .

Thank you both. I found some old parts explosion diagrams for the carb, but for carb noobs like me, labeling something "screw" wasn't particularly helpful.

I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks again.
