What is this?

Post by davery »

This is listed as a "panel on center console" for an 83-85 Fiat Spider. I have an 85 and have nothing that looks like this. What is it and does anyone have a pic of a dash with it?

So I found a picture of this. Is this another heater vent? AC vent?

On my 84 there is a black shift diagram there but no rectangular frame around it. Also no holes in the console there for airflow. This part is new to me!

Sounds the same as my 85. Apparently this part is unfamiliar to anyone.

That interior pic is from a 1985.5, so maybe it only came on those?

Could be. How can you tell it's an 85.5 ? Could this be an OEM AC vent? I had OEM AC on my first 85 and don't remember anything that looked like this. Also, do the map pockets look different?

It is a coin holder (does not work well). Check out this web site for 83-85.5 pininfarina info.

Well, that wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be.

Maybe it holds Lira coins. Actually I like it. Finishes off the space nicely IMO, wanna sell it?

Found this part on eBay. And for $89,000 USD they include a really nice '83 spider with the deal!

I really like what they do to the interiors at Roadster Salon. You can buy the leather interiors at Spiderpoint. They also install an in dash AC/Heat/Defrost unit, which is what I would like to do.

Yeah, they do nice work. But for that kind of cash I'd prob just buy two or three of the new ones. I see you are in Dayton (part time). I'm in Indy and get over that way a few times a year we should meet up and compare notes/trade parts sometime.

Unique steering wheel, shift knob, different steering wheel angle, and the outer gauges are set lower than earlier Spiders.
