Are these installed incorrectly?

I have these plastic covers on the frame of my top. I think that they were installed wrong. What are they and did all tops came with them?

Mine has them as well, I think they are intended to protect against pinching the top when closing/opening but not sure.

I believe that they are on backwards. They are to cover the bolts with the slot facing down and the tab covering the bolt/rivet on the front part of the window flap which is currently left exposed.

The fat part goes up front and that slot should be on the bottom side for the top frame bolt to ride in.

My EZ-Top didn't come with them, and I would expect that maybe they aren't necessary? What brand top do you have? There should be a tag with a brand name somewhere on it.

No, a replacement top would not come with them, as these covers came with the car when new.

That makes sense, no wonder we never see these, as hardly anyone would still have an original top.

They are part of the top frame and not attached to the fabric. Help prevent bumps/bruises/scalp lacerations from banging your head on the edges and rivets of the top frame and give things a more finished look. Be sure to use good bur free low profile truss head screws to hold them in place and a new Phillips bit when you install them so you don't mess up the heads leaving sharp burs behind.

They are rather flimsy though a could stand being made up from a thicker, more durable ABS or Polypropylene Plastic.
