Craigslist purchase back in October making me the third owner. The PO drove her quite a bit but not for the last few years. A LOT of cosmetic work to be done but he swears the engine runs great.
I was able to get her out just for a few laps around the neighborhood before winter, which is long and cold here in Minnesota. Pure joy!
I don't have a good cpu to upload pics on but I'm posting on instagram at 1971fiat124saintpaul. Please check it out if you have the time!
It is 12 degrees today but we're starting to warm up so a car dolly and trip to my mechanic is coming soon (hopefully by the end of the month). This will be my first full look under the car and assessment of the rust. Assuming all is well enough (this in MN folks, so there WILL be rust so no need to panic, we're ready for it) we're pulling the transmission for a new second gear, and replacing the timing belt. When I called my mechanic to let him know about my new car it turns out he's got one in his own shed. Second bit of luck, after the initial find of course. Here's to much more where that came from.
Thanks in advance for advice, patience, and sharing a passion for these great little Italian machines!
Enzo give me the strength, perserverance, and cash to see this thru.
