Oil Catcher Benefits?

Hi, the PO installed an aftermarket oil catcher, between the output hose on the side of the engine and the input on the bottom of the Turtleback air cleaner. Apart from taking up space and extra hoses, I cannot see anything positive about it. I have inserted a stick in the top and pushed to the bottom. Only a minimal trace of oil can be seen on the stick. So, my next move will be to remove it, tidy up the hoses and just have a direct link from engine to Turtleback.

Any opinions welcome.

I don't have one on mine. The only time you'd need/require one is if your donk is really tired with lots of blowby, or if you intend punting it around a track.
