Throttle return

Post by valkyrcustoms »

I have a 75 with the original 1800 engine, and 36 adl Weber. My throttle cable is old and kinked so I'm replacing with a new one. My question is...

Should my accelerator pedal have some kind of return spring. The carb linkage does have one, but I could swear I've seen some type of return spring for the pedal on a diagram somewhere.

If it is supposed to have one, what does it look like and where does it mount. All advice is appreciated.

I'm running the 38ADL and the only springs I have is on the bell crank and the carb. That may or may not be correct - but it works just fine.

Some 1976-85 Spiders did have a return spring, but I do not remember which years. Loo on your pedal to see if there is a tab for the spring, just above the part you put your foor on, where it connects to the shaft.

Thank you forma the responses. I will look forma that tab on the accell pedal linkage. I will assume that if it does not have the tab then it did not use a spring other than what is at the carb.
