I'm putting together a 2L motor for my 75. 4.5mm dome pistons with a stock 2L FI head and cams. I'm estimating around 9.9:1 static compression based on an old article I found comparing the various block, piston and head combinations. Early 4 bolt flange, 4-2 exhaust manifold and a 79 2-1 downpipe, and I'll be removing the catalytic converter. The intake is from a 77 1.8L. I'll be rebuilding and tuning a factory electronic ignition for the car. And right now I have the 32ADFA carburetor that I have started to rebuild.
My question is, will this motor run okay on the 32ADFA with stock jetting? I figure my other option is to spend a bunch of cash on 32/36DFEV or maybe compromise with a Ford 5200. My intended use for this car is a "spirited" daily driver.
I'm trying not to overspend on the powertrain right now. I still need to dive into the brakes and suspension systems to get the car back on the street. In the future I might consider an upgraded intake camshaft with a larger carb or carbs.

It will run fine with the 32ADFA, but you will be giving up some power compared to a larger carb.
Likely you'll need to go a bit richer on the idle and main jets for optimum performance.

Re: 32ADFA Carb on my 2L?
This is pretty much the same motor I built for my 79 spider. A rebuilt 2L with 4mm pistons but otherwise stock. Early large port 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and stock electronic ignition. The intake at the time I sold the car was a 32 ADF with 1800 intake manifold. The car ran fantastic. I don't recall specs but I'm sure I did some rejetting of the carb. Before I sold the car I had dual 40 IDFs and I was surprised to notice little in the way of lost performance, my butt dyno tends to be less than very accurate.

This is what you want. Same bolt pattern as the ADFA, but 34mm throttle plates and 27/29mm venturies.

Re: 32ADFA Carb on my 2L?
Hi,
I have a 32 sdf on my 2L and it seems fine, but then again I haven't compared it with too many other spiders. My question is:
What jet sizes is recommended? I have looked for a while and have not actually found posts actually specifying what jets they have with their cars.
thanks in advance.
