Idle problem

Any clues on why my car might be idling incorrectly?
It pulses - rpms go low as if it's going to stall then, speeds up and repeats.

Fuel injected or carb? does it do it when engine warm and cold? What is your idle low idle prior to stall - 400 and when it speeds up is it in the 800, 1100 or higher range. Could be a lot of things but need to know if carb or FI first?

A little more info would probably help!
It's a 1974 and its original (I think) two barrel carb.

When was the last time the carb was re-built? Do you suspect any leaks? Have you tried adjusting the mixture screws and does that do anything? You need extra advance at idle! I'm not really good with carbs other than knowing how they work. I've always struggled to get a carb just right across a wide RPM range. Some of the guys on this forum can tell you a lot more. they have years of experience with Carbs. I would suggest finding a good troubleshooting guide and following all the way through to isolate the issue.
