does fuel flow in both venturis?

My new Empi carb seems to flow fuel in the idle or primary circuit fine. But, I see no fuel flow in the secondary (or inside venturi) even if I rev it up. It seems to run good. Is this normal until you put a real load on it on the road?

fuel flows in the secondary when the throttle opens and there is enough air flow to draw fuel from the discharge nozzle. There is a low speed circuit in the secondary. If there was no fuel flow the engine would fall flat on it's face when the throttle opens

To build upon this the drop in pressure has to be substantial to draw fuel from the high speed devices. It's difficult with an unloaded engine to observe the full flow within the carb.

I was assuming it had to be flowing and I just couldn't see it like it I could in the primary. It revs well like it must be working.

Probably not; you're not generating enough demand with the car at rest
