not a fiat 124 but what is it?
I'm almost certain that this ebay listing of a picture of a fiat 124 coupe isn't correct, but can anyone tell me what it is please as it's bugging me. It does look like a fiat but not an AC version of the coupe and don't think it's a 2300s either as the back window rakes in at a different angle.

Looks like a stock Spider with a factory fiberglass (removable) hardtop.

I don't thing that top is removable. There's no "crack"or space around either the top of the A pillar or below the rear window. It certainly is unique.

that was pininfarina proposal for the 124 coupe, they ended up going with the design from Mario Boano.
I've always thought if I had the skills and an extra car I would love to make a replica. I really love the rear screen design of that era

The car was Pininfarina's proposal for a Fiat 124 Coupe. The proposal lost to the in-house design by Fiat Centro Stile

Thanks for this - wasn't aware of that part of the history. It's a great design so I'm surprised it wasn't accepted. It would be great if a hard top accessory was made for the spider with that same back window.

Actually, the factory hard top is pretty close to that design, the difference is the rake angle of the rear window. On the green concept car the window starts just after the trunk lid, on the factory hard top the window starts higher up on the body where the soft top attaches.

I would pay good money for a hardtop like that. Wish the US vendors offer it.

Close, but no cigar. Although the factory hard top is pretty close you're right the difference is the rake angle. Unfortunately it doesn't look anywhere near as good as the green concept car. Clearly using more of the panel up to the trunk lid is does the trick. It's amazing that something that apparently so minor can make such a seismic difference. One looks a bit pants the other looks amazing. No surprise it's the Pininfarina one.
Now if only I could get a hard top exactly that same design then I really would pay good money for that...

That would be an awesome project for someone with great fabricating skills. The door windows would have to be changed to include the angle. Fit it with a roll cage and heavily modified engine and you got a baby Ferrari!
