During the summer i restored a 79 carbed 2000. The main issue was the carb as gas sat in it for 10 years. I completely dissambled cleaned and rebuilt the entire carb. Also my muffler and exhaust starting at the end of the down pipe by the transmission collasped and was completely rusted. I drove the car to a exhaust place and they ran it back with a larger pipe and a magnaflow rear muffler to get it a sport sound. I like the sound but no matter what, i get exhaust popping like miniature back fires. I know in some part its due to less back pressure but it obviously indicates fuel getting in my exhaust. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Exhaust Popping
Re: Exhaust Popping
rich mixture will cause popping on decel, but a straight through muffler will also cause it

Re: Exhaust Popping
Exhaust leak will too, as air is getting into the exhaust and the unburned gases will ignite.
