Yep, radiator is out. Just about everything is out. I'm starting to think I should paint the engine bay as long as "I'm in there."

Haven't had the time yet. Thinking a leveler would help.

Got it out yesterday afternoon, with no problems at all.

The trick for me was to use rope and a leveler. I lifted the block above the engine mount bolts, and used the leveler to make sure the edge of the block was parallel to it's mating surface on the bell housing. Once it was lined up the block pulled away quite easily.

Others have said this before but I'll repeat it here, this was a fairly simple job.

Now that I've had the experience and know what to expect it's not at all intimidating. For those of you considering an engine pull but second guessing your ability, I say do it.

After I pulled mine and removed most of the components attached to the inner fenders, I got to cleaning. I used Simple Green and some commercial kitchen degreaser. Get a long bristle parts brush and some scrub pads. I think you will be suprised at how well the engine bay cleans up :D
Some matching spray touch up paint and you will be all set.

Funny, I've been cleaning mine all afternoon.

Organized some wires, fixed a poorly routed brake line etc. etc. Loving every minute of it.

The new (to me) engine going into the car came in pieces so some of it has been a real mystery to me, that is, until I took the old one apart. Armed with the microfiche I got from Brad's site and the photos I took while taking the old engine apart I think I'm in good shape and should be able to put this all back together.

Super "stoked" about the progress so far.

The side mount was worth the effort to build. I got a piece of 1/4" steel from home depot, marked/drilled the holes based off of a used mount I bought on ebay. Cut the nose off that motor mount and had it welded to my steel plate. It's not pretty but it works perfectly. With my impact wrench I was able to take the entire block apart in what felt like no time at all.
