Are cams the same?

Post by urbom »

While looking for twin cam parts, I came across a listing for a performance cam that seemed to indicate that the intake cam and the exhaust cam are really the same critter, which would point to the cam wheels as the part that makes the difference. Does anyone know whether there is a difference between the exhaust cam and the intake cam? I always assumed that they were different, now I'm not so sure.

Wow, so on my 1438 with the distributor in the block, they are interchangeable.

actually I have 3 1438's or parts thereof, one in the car, and the others in pieces, and keeping the cams straight just became a non issue.
