Sneak Preview!- Rear Big Brake Kit
Sneak Preview!- Rear Big Brake Kit
Here's a spy shot of our new Rear Big Brake Kit. It utilizes the new 500 rear caliper and rotor for an increased diameter of about 1/2" with a modern sliding caliper and effective parking brake. They should be on the market in about 2 weeks. Calipers will be available in red powder coat or plain silver
Re: Sneak Preview!- Rear Big Brake Kit
I'm very interested as I have had nothing but problems with the old cotter pinned/wedge slide rear calipers. How much for a set shipped to Connecticut?
Re: Sneak Preview!- Rear Big Brake Kit
I won't have pricing for about a week. The adapters are being produced now and should be delivered next Saturday

You rascal Mark. I thought I was done buying new (and improved) parts for my car. Now I just have to HAVE your new rear brakes. Put me down on your list when they become available.

Re: Sneak Preview!- Rear Big Brake Kit
Why exactly is the parking brake so ineffective?

I received the powder coated adapters today and the first powder coated calipers. I'll be putting this together in the next couple of days

R&D on the kit is completed. Combined with the front Wilwood kit, the rear kit is amazing. The e brake holds on a 45 degree slope, with the car in neutral I did stopping distance tests today. At 40 mph I was able to consistently stop in one car length with no lock up. I should be able to announce pricing and availability within a day or so.
This kit will fit 79 and newer Spiders, or basically, the rear ends with the removable rear cover

You may be the only one that has it working, mine has never worked properly, I am hoping a new cable will rectify some of the issueKevAndAndi wrote:Why exactly is the parking brake so ineffective?

Ah, you misunderstand me. Mine is ineffective. My asking the question was not a version of, "Hey, I don't know what you guys are doing wrong, but my parking brake is fantastic!"divace73 wrote:You may be the only one that has it working, mine has never worked properly, I am hoping a new cable will rectify some of the issueKevAndAndi wrote:Why exactly is the parking brake so ineffective?
Mine is in fact ineffective, and my understanding is that they all are. But I don't know why. Design flaw? Bad calipers? Fatigue of parts?

Curse you, Mark Allison. I bought the Wilwood kit already, and now you are enticing me with a rear kit.
