Tutto Lite this Saturday
Hey, I was wondering if anyone else was going to Larz Anderson this Saturday for Tutto Lite? As of now it looks like the weather will be good, so I am hoping that holds because I would really like to go and see some other Fiat Spiders from the area and meet some of you.

Oh well, unfortunately I guess no one else came out! It is too bad because the weather was perfect, nice and sunny and low 60s. I ended up being the only classic Fiat in the show, all the others were new 500s. I was really hoping to see some other Spiders so I could get some ideas of small things I should do over the winter for fit and finish on the changes I've made, but oh well. So...I took award for "Best Fiat", at least the crowd thought a classic deserved it over a new model, haha.
The show should've been called "Ferraris and Lamborghinis" because there were probably close to 30 Ferraris (including a nice '65 330) and 8 or so Lambos. Not one classic Maserati showed. There was a beautiful '72 DeTomaso Pantera, and a Lancia BetaZagato (only Lancia there). A mix of Alfas: some Spiders including a late 50s one. Two GTV6's that looked like they've been drivers since new (bumper stickers and all)! There was a really nice 2000 Sprint coupe but he left pretty early before voting really started.
Maybe I can meet some of the local guys another time, so I'll just thank you all for not coming so I can say my car is "award winning" now!
They gave me the money spot though next to the path to the food tent so everyone had to walk by it:

Nice they put you on the hill! Fiats had that place for years and there were a good half-dozen of us who showed every year. (I've got five of their 'tin pot' plaque awards to show for it) Then the Ferrari people had us booted to the field across the road -- where overflow spectators parked -- and after the 2nd year of that I, and more than a few of the others, stopped going.
That, btw, was when when there was just one Italian Car Day -- a judged event. This new arrangement may be better. Certainly fairer for those who actually drive their cars, and not just trailer them like so many of the Ferrari crowd did, and I assume do.
Congrats on your award! One of one is just fine -- you kept the banner flying!

Italian motorcycles. An Italian car. An Italian wife. What more could a man desire?

Really sorry that I couldn't make it, Father In Law in the Hospital, and the Spider just came up from Brewster yesterday. I make most every one of these the past few years.
But I am also wondering if anyone wants to put together an informal Fall Spider meet here in Plymouth by the harbor? Lots of stuff to do here, great restaurants, etc.

I would really like to make it if possible. Plymouth is a bit of a drive (~90mi each way) but I just did Springfield and back this weekend which was longer so if we found a date that worked for people I would do my best to make it. Unfortunately my November is already filling up and who knows how many nice days there are left. Keep me in the loop if you make this a thing.

Re: Tutto Lite this Saturday
I think I will look for a place to meet that makes sense and do something in the Spring. We wait until August here in MA for a Fiat event (Tutto), so a Spring event would make sense. The waterfront is really nice, but there is no possibility of reserved parking and it fills in really early on weekends (all year round) so I need to find another place to meet. There are a number of great pubs and restaurants, but don't want to make this an alcohol event, that would be a major mistake for an automotive event. LOL. (But check out "The Dirty Water Distillery") There are some nice drives out through cranberry country, primarily in Carver and Wareham, but they are better in the Fall. Still nice in Spring though. Historic Plymouth Plantation is a great draw, as is the downtown central MA State Park where the Rock and Mayflower are. There are whale watches (not in the Spring though) plus paddle wheel harbor tours, charter fishing and a ferry over to Provincetown. There is a good long brook walk/park in town too, that goes up to a working grist mill. I will ask around and see if I can find a secure parking area downtown that could hold a half dozen cars or so (that is all I expect would be able to make this?). Plenty of time to work on it over the Winter.

That sounds cool. I'd hit that event with my Spider on steelies. It would be the longest trip I've taken in the car.
