Need help Identifying what I have here

Post by profcucchi »

Good afternoon, All.

I need lot of help here. POs, and there were many, have made mods that I have no understanding of.

Here are some pis:

Image
Overall Engine. Sorry for the lousy iPad pics...

Image
"A" is the emmision?
"B" and "C" are sensors?
"D" is a performance part?

Image
"F" has to do with heat?

Image
"G" and "H" are just better pictures of the sensors. The longer wire is connected to the closer sensor and the shorter wire isn't connected at all.

Any help with the letters would be appreciated. I haven't taken pics of the serial numbers yet, but will.

Thanks and enjoy the weekend,
CCucchi

F seems to just be a simple fill and bleed T for the cooling system. It allows for easier flushing of the system.

G and H look to be the senders for the temperature gauge. The one nearest the radiator (without the wire) is the one that "pegs" the needle. The other is the one that controls the gauge itself.

Thanks, Courtenay.

Ummm... Both should be connected, right? The short wire to the closer point, and the longer wire to the farther. When both were connected, a mechanic found my temp needle went from dead centre to right of centre, about 1/8".

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fiat electrics??? My front sender (the one that pegs the needle) went faulty some time ago. I disconnected it - leaving the one that actually measures the temperature of the fluid as my only indication of fluid temperature. I have the new sensor, but haven't been able to get a socket on the old one to replace it - in the meantime, things seem to be operating just fine.

I'm also curious about the header labeled "D" in the picture above. Is it a stock header?

Mine, too.

I have the short wire attached to the farther sensor, as purchased, and no issue...that I know of.

Thanks.

Header is not stock ("D") but appears to be one of the commonly available styles.

Thanks, man. So that's what a header is! My car knowledge is woefully lacking, despite two manuals...

The POs probably had a vision, I just wish they had left a note in the glove box.

Happy driving.

"A" and "B" need to be removed and the holes left behind plugged with the short bolt (can't remember the size/pitch off hand) The previous owner cut out part of the emissions system and simply crimped off the piping that leads into the head.

"G" and "H" are water temperature sensors. One is for the temp gauge, the other, if triggered by overheating, will peg the gauge into the red zone. ( I think that's how mine tested..)

What year is this? I don't see the relays on the driver side fender, or any of the vacuum electrovalve stuff. Probably better than it's gone unless you are going for factory original correctness.

Thanks, Kevin.

I've plugged the holes with M18 drain plugs and Dope. No relays yet, but it sounds like a winter project. They're piling up for December. Electrovalve? I have no idea.
