Help finding restoration parts
Re: Help finding restoration parts
Never having seen a 71 new, but looking under the hood of mine, there is the same space, and lip around the edge where the insulation for the 73 goes. Do you think they might have designed it with future insulation in mind?

Re: Help finding restoration parts
Good question. I've had this argument with myself several times....do I want to add insulation or don't I? Now that I'm running dual IDFs, there is no room for insulation, but it sure would make it nice and pretty but I don't know what other benefit it would offer.

Re: Help finding restoration parts
Update: I have ordered the black quilted silicone treated fiberglass insulation from Accoustical Solutions. The 550 degree tolerant materiel was significantly higher than the regular materiel.
With shipping it came to about $300 for an 4x8 panel (I know that's a lot, but I really want the original look ). I'll let you know how it works, should be here in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again to KillerB for finding it.
ga.spyder, I will let you know if there is enough left over for a second hood.
On another note, I still haven't found any center caps for the BWA wheels. Any new leads?

here is something I have used on other vehicles and will probably use on my fiat when I get her running.msrmd wrote:Update: I have ordered the black quilted silicone treated fiberglass insulation from Accoustical Solutions.
