1756 in a 72 BC Sport Coupe will it fit?

Post by brotherbill »

I purchased a 72 BC coupe with a disassembled engine - unclear if the transmission matches, it has the floating pin pistons which appear hard to find, and many other questions before my rebuild. I currently have a line on a running 1756. I have also gathered that the 1756 might be too tall for the hood but I'm not certain.

Can any one share some light on the feasibility and obstacles of doing this swap? Thanks -

I suppose the first question is can you plug a 78 spider 1756 in a 72 spider? I realize the hoodline on the coupe is a guess on everyone's part.

In the US the 1608s came with the 215mm clutch, so the bellhousing/clutch/flywheel would be the same between the 1608 and 1756.
But it's easy to measure to be sure.

Yes, it will fit in a BC, people have put the taller 2 liter in a BC too, plus the later CC Coupe came with the 1756cc engine from the factory.

Can you send us pics of the car? I love BC's!!!
