For the first time in two+ years of ownership, and operation as my daily driver, I have a puzzling electric problem.
My lights and wipers won't work if the ignition is on. If I turn the switch off, they work.
What is the cause of this?

If you didn't move any wires around, you most likely have a bad ignition switch.

Have you replaced the ignition switch with an aftermarket switch??

This is a strange problem. What year is your car. Have you inspected the ignition switch connections?? First thought would be ignition switch but if the mechanical part of the switch slipped to put off the position alignment I would expect more than 2 issues.
