Thought I'd share a pic of my amp and subwoofer install
Sony amp + 2x 8" subs.. custom box out of 1/2" MDF
The floors torn up so I could remove bumpers etc for paint.
Yes... it does need a little anti-rattle mat

Where did you relocate the battery? Shouldn't the sub woofers face the people part of the car?......not bring a wise guy I honestly don't know?

The battery is still there. Unmoved.
It's a flat board in front with speaker boxes to the back for the subs. Each cavity was like .9 cu.ft. which was just enough per the subwoofer specs. (you have to have specific air volume for sealed box subs to work right.

And with subs, it doesn't matter where they are or where they're pointed. In this case, the trunk cavity actually works like a 2nd speaker box. I get pretty good base response outta this setup.

The anti rattle mat is going to be required. The metal on the trunk is pretty thin and the reverberation might send waves through the metal. There are two seams above the trunk lid that go vertically between the trunk and the rear window. These areas are likely to have some paint cracking with the increased body flex and vibration. On the 83-85 spiders they redesigned the top boot with metal hooks and a piece of metal that extends down to the trunk lid to hide this common cracking area. I only mention this because you said you removed bumpers for paint. It is highly likely the new paint will show cracking after it fully cures in that area in a short period of time.
