Yellow Zinc Plating

Hi,
Still putting together the 1608 for my Sedan. I was thinking of getting some of the heat shields and bolts re-plated. I searched here for any details on it but didn't find anything.
Has anyone here had that done?
If the experience was good would be interested to know who did the work, feel free to Email if posting vendor details is an issue.

Years ago I looked at and actually bought a kit to zinc plate at home... It used light bulbs to control the some chemicals I wasnt fond of having.... about that same time I found a local company who does plating by the pound. It seemed much leike much hassle and actually is relatively inexpensive so that what we do now.

I got it done by the local plating place, however I am on the other side of the world, does bling things up a bit





I have always thought about those home kits but haven't really looked into it.

Nice pics! I see you did your idler lid as well.
Not really interested in the DIY route after seeing pics on different forums.
I have been calling around local places but so far all seem to be high volume joints so the minimum is $300 for a rooms worth of objects. Will keep trying.

I wonder if it is worth sending you items down here to get plated and then sent back???

The lot above cost me $100 ish Australian dollars, which is pesos for you guys now.

What do you want to get done?

EDIT: Were they offering Cad plating or zinc plating? I haven't be able to find a Cad plater here...

SO! I found a place in Buffalo, Tripp Plating, that did the plating for me. They turned it around in 2 weeks ( with some pestering by me ) All I did was clean up the bolts before sending in using a plastic jar and dishwasher detergent.

The hardware looks great!

But yeah, finding a local plating company to do it for you is ideal, if you're not into figuring out this stuff at home.

Impressive job,You explained the process extremely well, Very easy to understand and follow...except I don't understand the power source supply..So I may plate multiple items at once.I have zero electrical knowledge, could you suggest what and where to purchase a power source.. I would like to plate lots of stuff. I never ever considered the plating when rebuilding multiple projects--- also you mentioned chromate as a secondary coating I find it attractive and would like to see that reference and process. Again a wonderful article you should be commended . Thank You
