I installed the carpet kit in my Spider. My car came without any carpet so I didn't see how the old one fit in at the edges and such. I did the best I could, but I can't really figure out how to complete the install at the edge where the carpet meets the door. I left it loose for now, because I wanted to be able to have access to the wires while I finish all troubleshooting and replacement of stuff.
Do I pull up the metal sill plates and then run the edge under those? It seems like the screws aren't long or strong enough to fit the carpet under and hold it there. But looking at pics, it appears that a lot of people have the carpet under the metal. Is that right? Maybe I should get longer screws?
I was going to use velcro to hold the edge down right along the sill plate, but if it is supposed to go under then I'd rather do that, it would probably look cleaner.
I'm not thrilled to death with the fit of the kit, next time I am going to cut my own. Or I might switch to vinyl, that's how my truck is and I've learned to love it (waterproof, stainproof, etc) as an auto floor cover.

Yes. Hold the padding short of the threshold strip; clamp the carpet only.mattyd7 wrote:Do I pull up the metal sill plates and then run the edge under those?

Am I reading that correctly... A Volumex?
I thought they were a mythological Spider-beast found in Germany, but not in North America!
Nice job, by the way.
