timing belt tool

Post by rlmiller »

Has anyone tried to make one of the factory tools that hold the camshafts from moving during a timing belt change. One of those would have made my life much simpler last year.

I actually wouldn't want to use one. As i thread the belt on it is a benefit to have the cams "float" as that allows me to pick up a tooth and then tension the belt as i to through the sequence. And as most things automotive it would have be nice to have a couple of extra limbs for the job. Especially if they were long, skinny, and had several joints

Yea, a highly trained squid would be advantageous :D

Did they make one after the 1438 engines? Curious though I agree - too easy to need to use it.
