Just a little tip for you to file away in the back of your head (as I was pulling my hair out until I found the fix). The IDF throttle shaft runs in ball bearings which are sealed by the grease and sometimes a leather seal. With age, the grease can dry out. Not only does that make the shaft less smooth in its action (not really noticeable), but more importantly it lets air leak into the carb, causing all sorts of weird problems that are impossible to fix without stopping the leak first. A new set of sealed bearings in mine cleared a lot of stumbling and flat spot problems.

Yes, in all my internet research about the idf's I had read about that being a potential problem.
When I dipped the carb bodies, I was very cautious to avoid getting the shaft bearings in the soup.
I found that this pair of carbs were more easily dialed in than the pair I installed to the 1800 in my spider.
Could it be that installing them to the spider actually gave me some useful experience?
