Installed stereo

Post by quanta2 »

I installed the speakers last night. I put the 5 1/4 inch round speakers above the map pouch in the leg area. I am posting this as a warning to others. When I made my first oh I hit a vertical brace between the inner and outer wall. Learned my lesson so on the other side I centered my whole 6 1/2 inches forward of the door seal in that just clears is that vertical brace and leaves you no obstructions and plenty of depth for the speaker to set in there. I used Polk marine grade and they sound good to me but I'm not a sound fanatic. I have plenty of volume at highway speed with the top down and no distortion.

If you want a real improvement in how your stereo sounds, install a wind deflector behind the seats. It cuts down the buffeting in your ears as you drive and quiets the ride when the top is down. You don't have to blast it as loud to hear the stereo and conversations are much easier. I hate driving without mine. Here's what it looks like.

It's the best thing I did for my car stereo!

I actually have a wind screen in the box. Trying to find time to install.
