Re: Battery location
I think 73 might be the last year with the battery in the engine bay. Kinda recall some folks looking for a mythical battery heat shield at one point for the 69(70)-73 years. Seems to correspond with the 1600 to 1800 engine change.

Re: Battery location
Maybe forward planning for the FI cars as the air-box replaced the battery????

Re: Battery location
It was a tight fit with the earlier cars and the move probably had more to do with battery failure and the pending need for air pumps and smog equipment. I don't think in 73 FIAT was planning on the Spider being around in 80.divace73 wrote:Maybe forward planning for the FI cars as the air-box replaced the battery????

Re: Battery location
kind of hard to put the humour across in a message, it was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek...if FIAT kept up any forward planning we may have not received the Mazda MX5/Miata, kind of ironic how it has ended up reallybradartigue wrote:It was a tight fit with the earlier cars and the move probably had more to do with battery failure and the pending need for air pumps and smog equipment.
