Interiors?

Post by Alleycat124 »

Is it normal to have brown seats
black dash
brown doors
black console
black top
black tonneau cover

this is what is currently in my 74 Spider. I googled interior pictures and saw mainly all black or all brown?

Black dash is normal. Doors, console, seats and tonneau cover should all be the same; carpet should be similar to the seats etc. Black tops were the norm but since most have been replaced, there are brown ones out there.

Alleycat,

There are definitely brown interiors out there....Specifically a later year was done in a brown interior for an anniversary special addition model. I would think the brown interior is more rare and worth keeping.

Anniversary edition was tan leather with some brown accent leather on the dash.

I have a friend with a dead stock 74 with the tan interior. The color is darker (or perhaps age has made it darker). The color combo is a black carpet, tan seats, tan door cards, black door tops, black vinyl convertible top, black dash, black consoles. In other words the "tan interior" consists of only the seats and door cards, everything else is the same as the black cars.

...and who the heck really knows all the combos? This has been a discussion topic over the years, the crazy color combos people have owned or saw at dealerships or see in old brochures. Blue with a brownish-orange interior, Silver with red interior, White with red interior, Blue with red interior (possibly the most hideous combination known to man), white with blue interior, silver with white interior...

I should have noted that tan, red, blue and black interior colors were available but they all had a black dash except the Anniversary Editions.

Come on Brad, I saw an online ad of a French blue wih red interior spider and thought it looked great! Also once saw a fiat 600 in the beautiful fiat dark blue with a red interior and loved it as well. It definitely doesn't sound right but seeing them (in pics anyway) made me a believer ... :)

Your opinion, my opinion. Doesn't matter, neither are wrong. I'll also say the 500 and 600 and all derivatives are sad examples of cars and styling...The only cars that I liked the crazy color combos was the X1/9, because it kind of fit the crazy styling.

Thanks for the information on the Interiors. I had just ordered a dark tan interior upper door panel to replace a patched one but it was black and needed to be died brown. Now I will just ask him if he has two black uppers and no die involved. I am replacing the chewed up black console as well. One of the members on this site had almost everything I was looking for. Sweet.
