Re: Won't Start
Well the love/hate relationship is tilted well onto the hate side right now.
Thanks for the suggestions - did them all, no effect. Then when it was running (poorly) at 3000 RPM I decided to pull the plug wires to see if all the cylinders were firing. Pulling both 3 and 4 had no effect.
Got out the compression tester 1=120; 2=120; 3=120; 4=0. Uh-oh.
Not sure why 3 wasn't firing, but pulled the valve cover and 4 had an intake valve stuck open.
Just finished pulling the head (again!) and the valve is indeed stuck open. I'm debating whether to tackle it myself or take it somewhere to get a new valve and guide put in. Either way I need to order both.
Looks like it's going to be a very short Fiat summer this year.

Re: Won't Start
Just wondering, if this valve issue wasn't the original perpetrator of the won't start issue and not the Computronics. once you get the valve fixed are you going to try it again?

Re: Won't Start
I will try it again. I loved the Computronix, but wasn't willing to drop another $600 if it was broken. Current plan is to fix the valve, then get it running with the distributor, then try the Computronix to see if it works.
At the rate I work it will be snowing about the time I get done.

Re: Won't Start
Don't I know the feeling. Only took me a month to get the alternator sorted out. Haven't done anything else on my list yet. Car has been out for a ride maybe half a dozen times all year. NOT good

Re: Won't Start
I think I know why the valve was stuck. Only hoping the valve guide isn't hosed now, but have both a valve and guide on order.

Re: Won't Start
You need to understand what happened to that valve. I would say timing way off, or you ran the valves together in that cylinder when putting on the timing belt.

Re: Won't Start
My initial suspicion was that the timing belt had slipped. This appears to verify that theory, although at the time I just thought the timing was off.
Thankfully it looks like the piston is not dinged up at all.
