Communicative property of seats?

In math if A = B and B = C then A = C. So the question is if 1998 Pontiac Sunfire seats fit in a Spider (known yes), and other aftermarket seats sold "fit" a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire, does that mean those other aftermarket seats will also fit a Spider?

Specifically, has any one tried these in a Spider?

I was planning on going with the Scat Pro Cars seats (and having to fabricate mounts) but these are a whole lot cheaper.

the stock seats in my spider were so broken that i also went with some cheap ones from ebay, just as a stop-gap measure. no regrets on them, as even as flimsy as they are they are bound to be safer than the broken old low-rise ones. but i seriously need to get some corbeaus in there. i went with some branded 'nrg innovation', and figured that microfiber would be a bit more comfy on sunny days. the covering is super-thin, and is wearing through on the driver's left bolster already, and i would imagine that pvc/naugahyde seats in this price range will be pretty thin-skinned, too.

love how the listing title says 'leather', and in the ad it says 'pvc leather'. just be aware that if you get seats of this caliber, they will not last long and will not protect you well in a crash.

The previous owner put some second hand Garage Pro seats he got off of Craigs List in the 78 about 5 years ago and those are still holding up fairly well. They are similar to the Ebay set shown but are in cloth not pleather. They do shoehorn into the Spider but...

fuzzy math, my friend. there is more to the equation than meets the eye. both seats may fit in the car, but seat B may sit you 2" higher than set A. This usually means that sitting in seat B you are staring at the windshield frame instead of the middle of the glass. Ask me how i know this

The Garage Pro seats would work better for someone 5' 2" however I am 6' tall and am also very familiar with the frame along with the visors so they are in group B. If I stop far enough back to see the traffic lights without ducking down I'll never trigger the left turn light to change.

Yes the there is a difference between "can fit" and a "good fit".

Yes the there is a difference between "can fit" and a "good fit".

at 5'11", i am also very well acquainted with my windshield frame and visors, with my aftermarket seats in. another reason i am looking forward to getting some corbeau seats. i am leaning toward the forza or clubman, each of which has a 3.5" high base.

Sunfire seats are a common swap in a lot of Jeeps too because are minimal work to make fit. And there are a lot of options for Jeep seating out there, so that is something to consider as well. I've actually found a lot of Jeep seats need to be raised up, which means they probably fit a Spider better than they actually do a Jeep. So I wouldn't be afraid of anything marketed for say an 87-06 (possibly even newer) Wranger either.

I am inclined to spend more time verifying seat dimensions rather than redesigning the car to fit a seat with a thicker bottom.

Impressive amount of work making those seats fit but....
